Veteran political strategist and Democratic Party activist Robert L. Healy brings over thirty five years’ of political, governmental, and public policy experience to Wexler | Walker clients.

For twenty-five years, Healy was an officer and vice president of Federal and International Government Relations for ARCO, one of the nation’s largest oil companies.  Prior to ARCO, Healy served as senior political and policy advisor to leading Members of Congress and Executive Branch officials, including former Secretary of the Treasury and Senator Lloyd Bentsen, and the late former Vice President and Senator Hubert Humphrey.

Healy’s political posts have included a past chairman of the Democratic National Committee’s National Finance Council; a founder and Managing Trustee of the Democratic Leadership Council; and co-director of Podium, Script, and Speeches for over twenty years of Democratic National Party Conventions.  He has served as an advisor to numerous Democratic candidates for the House of Representatives, the Senate and President. He is an executive committee and board member of BI-PAC, the Business-Industry Political Action Committee.

Healy has  organized and run major lobbying, government relations, and issue campaigns on a host of policy areas including, oil and gas development, alternative energy proposals, environmental regulations,  global climate, mobile communications, systems, emergency management systems, mergers, anti-trust, and acquisitions, global trade, energy transportation, and budget, taxes, and financial services.

Dr. Healy has been a presenter at numerous international meetings and universities, recently finishing a lecture on public policy, political conventions and American politics at Oxford University, UK, and the Center for International and Strategic Studies in Jakarta, Indonesia.  He is a Board Director of US-PECC and a founding invited member of the US Pacific Council.  He is a senior advisor to the US Asean Business Council and a member of the US Indonesia Society.  He is regular lecture and presenter at the George Washington University Business School, the Bryce Harlow Institute, and the American University Campaign and Lobbying Institute.

A native of Pennsylvania, Dr. Healy was awarded a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Pittsburgh and is an Adjunct Professor of political science at the American University where he teaches on corporations and politics.  He is also a Fellow at the AU Center for Congress and the Presidency and a former member of the Board of Trustees of the College of Southern Maryland.  He and his wife, Jann, reside in La Plata, Maryland.  They have three adult children.
